Thirty barrels are produced for the annual Maifest celebration in the Amana Colonies. Maifest is tapped in the first week of May to celebrate the coming of the warm months. Maifest is also on tap at many of the fine restaurants in the colonies during the month of May.

The Maifest style is actually a style of Bock. The Germans used to drink dark bock beer all winter. They would be tired of it by spring, and would celebrate the coming of good weather by brewing a beer light in color, but strong in flavor and alcohol. This was called Maibock. Our Maifest is made with 50% munich malt to give it good body and a nice malty after taste. We use plenty of hops to round out the malty flavor with a nice hop bite. With out a doubt, this is the beer to get the drinking months started! Look for it in 12oz 6packs in May and June
